NEWS FLASH!!!  National Geographic Adventure Magazine recently listed          Prescott, Arizona as one of the top 50 places to live and play!  Our quick and easy access to the forest put us on the map.  It will only get better.

                                                            Prescott Trails

Prescott's trails are divided amongst three distinct riding areas:  Granite Basin, Thumb Butte and Schoolhouse Gulch (Groom Creek).  Lynx Lake is another developing area with a few really nice trails as well.  Each area offers unique riding experiences that range from rocky technical  trails to buff hard pack.  There really is something for everyone in Prescott.

All of the trails in Prescott can be accessed by bike from down town Prescott in a matter of 10-20 minutes.  By car, the trails are only 5-10 minutes from downtown.  Ambitious riders can even link the various ride areas with very little pavement in between.  Prescott really is a great place for fat tires.

GRANITE BASIN

Granite Basin Trails are great for riders of all levels.  These trails are very well marked, easy to follow and link up in nice loop variations.  Summer conditions get a little warm as much of the Granite Basin trail system is exposed to the sun.  This area also gets more trail traffic and multi user traffic.

THUMB BUTTE

Thumb Butte has an extensive network of singletrack linked with sections of service road.  Navigating the Thumb Butte area can be confusing as there are lots of intersections and ride options.  The rides in this area usually require more climbing than at other areas.  Mulit use traffic in this area is moderate.  Some trails are local mtb secrets.

SCHOOHOUSE GULCH

Schoolhouse is home to the area's hard pack.  This area is a little less rocky than Granite or Thumb Butte.  There is a great deal of variety in this area.  Trail 307 is the area classic perfect for those who like big climbs and big downs.  Trail 396 showcases the area's finest hard pack with mild climbs and great views.
