FEATURED TRAIL - THUMB BUTTE

WHITE ROCK (318) - 367 Loop

Skill Level:  Intermediate/Advanced  Exertion Level:  Moderate to Difficult in spots

Some people love it, some hate it, all probably agree this is the local classic of classics.  Starting at the Thumb Butte parking area, this trail starts at the 316 trailhead.  Shortly after you get rolling you connect with 318 and the ascent begins.  Keep your momentum and push over the rocks, steps and ledges to the top of the first climb.  A short drop takes you through rollig terrain to the second switchbacked climb.  The final drop brings you to the intersection of 318 and 332.  Continue on 318 up the gully and to the end of the trail at Thumb Butte Road.

On the return, you can retrace your path to 332 or take Thumb Butte road downhill a few hundred feet to the start of 367.  Follow 367 through the tight, technical rock sections to the parking area.

Brian tops out the on the first climb

Even the last 50 feet of this loop keep you focused!

The White Rock trail is often used as a starting or ending section of trail, sometimes both.  From White Rock, you can also connect to Granite Basin via 332 or ride any of the other Butte trails like 392, 326 or 321.  This loop listed above is pretty short.  Perfect  for an after work ride.
