TRAIL CONDITIONS -- MARCH 13, 2010
With the on-off rain and snow of the last month, roughly less than 30% of our trails are now open and even ride-worthy. Those that are open are a little wet, but pretty nice.
Thumb Butte: Everything behind and above the butte is still under snow or really wet. The trails north of the butte extending as far as Emmanual Pines are actually very nice and should be the first dry trails around in a week or so. Longs Canyon is still super hosed. Go there with your water wings and a snorkel.
Schoolhouse Gulch/396: This trail is pretty durable, but it does have sections that stay snow covered and wet for a while. There have been some fools on this trail who don't know not to ride soft trails, so there is some trail damage on 396. Feldmire? Who knows. Could be a complete disaster. No one has yet dared to go look.
305: Sounds like it's wet now, but should be clear and dry in a week or so.
Granite Basin: Avoid the mud above the basin and out towards Williamson Valley mud. The basin trails should be fine in a week or so, but as of now they're slightly wet in spots.
The Whiskey Off Road Course: Snow covered. Plan your pre-rides of the course at least 3 weeks out.
